Fall Photo Shoot

I grew up in a very small town of about 200 people in central Illinois.  During the last weekend of October I was able to photograph several different families and couples in my hometown to help build my portfolio.  In the end it was much more than just building my portfolio.  I reconnected with friends that I had not seen in years and met some wonderful new faces.  Even though the weekend was exhausting and I am still trying to recoup from endless nights of editing, it was well worth it in so many ways.  I want to thank all the families that stuck out the cold and windy weather and all the old friends who took a chance on me. Here are a few of my favorites...

baby in the belly

okay, okay, okay......I have been so busy that this will be a quick one! Here are few maternity pics that I did a few weeks ago. Great couple and their first! I had a great time working in their home and can't wait to meet the little girl. Here is a little bit of the photo shoot...though it was hard to just pick these....I needed to fill demands to post!!! :)

hangin' with my neighbors

I spent the morning with my neighbors on Tuesday. Conveniently both girls are the same age as my two little ones. We had so much fun jumping on the beds (especially mom and dad's bed) hiding under the blankets and listening to little baby kate in momma's belly! Here are a few photos of the girls and mom to be........and really any day now

my zoey

It has been a few weeks since my last post. Work has kept me busy, exhausted and questioning my creativity. I have started feeling a little overwhelmed by all that there is too learn in photography. Somewhat a little depressed by, what I feel, is a loss of creativity, I decided I would take matters into my own hands. I started digging up all my film work from college and when I taught photography...before digital came along. I even began listening to new music, updating my ears to try and breathe new life into my work.

I also felt that now is the time to really embrace the fact that I have two really beautiful children and am in a new phase in my life. Instead of relishing in what I used to do and what ideas I used to have....I'm going to feed my energy with what I have right now in front of me! What an awesome gift I have too!

Zoey and I took a little trip yesterday to a nature preserve. I had just bought a new lens and I wanted to try it out! It is so hard taking photos of Zoey sometimes....she moves too fast...makes silly faces because she is annoyed by the camera and I mean come on....I am always taking pictures of her. But I wanted to capture her better than I ever have (by the way i decided to keep the brother scratch on her nose instead of editing it out...keepin it real folks!!!)...so here you go

zoey did the editing on this one! :)

6 months and counting!!!
